Back up boot camp trainer (Dog Dude)

I’m usually hanging out in front of the cafe door (no coincidence!)  I’d prefer my position to be ‘food tester’ but I’m walking the talk  with my health & fitness preferring to stay lean for speed & agility!! (they do know I’m a lab right?)

I’m always happy to hang out at bootcamp and move those bright coloured cones around, I’m awesome at providing ‘cuddle’ support on the mat when those PT’s are stretching the sore bits and you need something to hang onto!

My specialty is ‘Rest Days’  & I generally have two speeds flat out (moving like the wind after the ball) and “flat out”(spread eagle at the door).

Finally my worldly advice is not to stress about life but instead handle stressful situations like me – if you can’t eat it or play with it then just pee on it and walk away!

I’m Mike, owner of Mint Gym + Nutrition.

I have been a trainer for over 20 years and still love my job. As a trainer I work alongside Physios, Doctors and other health professionals to ensure that clients/members get results that will give longevity of life.

I always try to make the session experience enjoyable and challenging, my experience allows me to draw out of a client their best performance.

Proper technique, posture and rehabilitation are my specialties along with HIIT training and Mobility.

Working with a team of fantastic nutritionists gives me the benefit of getting results that are sustainable and long lasting.

I am a local Cantabrian and with a degree in sports & exercise science. I enjoy lifting heavy things up, then putting them back down, over and over again. Fitness and general health are fairly neglected nowadays, yet it is extremely important which is why I see the value in providing thoughtfully individualized programs for people of all walks of life.

Becoming the best version of yourself is life altering and what I enjoy most about my work is seeing that quiet look of determination in the mind of someone who has said “enough with mediocre, I want results”. While change is not a four letter word, the reaction to is usually is. However, exercise can be enjoyable. The close relationship between challenge and reward usually means fun gets left out in the cold but I believe all three are equally important.

My role as Clinical Nutritionist allows me to work with many clients with varying health goals.  Getting to the root cause of symptoms can be life changing for many people who have struggled with chronic health issues.  Using all the knowledge I have learnt through training, as well as keeping up to date with the latest research and continuing my professional development, allows me to help my clients get their health goals on track.

I am passionate about improving a client’s health and wellbeing by working together to provide a treatment plan that will achieve results. This will mean looking at all aspects of the client’s life including diet, exercise, stress management and recreation to take a holistic approach to reaching their goals.

Life is all about balance and getting this balance right will enable you to enjoy a healthy and happy lifestyle.

Being a MINT member made a big difference in my life, and now, as a MINT trainer I want to make a difference to yours.

I have aged but not matured so says my wife who said I should act my age. I have a quirky sense of humour and love the idea of helping with health related issues.

In my illustrious lifespan, I have been a bit Sporty wise, rugby, squash, judo, road cycling, and tramping – walking the “tour de Mont Blanc” is a highlight. Right now, I am mastering table tennis, love to try new things.

This has been a left field change of career as I have been the corporate guy managing budgets, had my own successful business, (managed my way into the stress related health issues), and although this is a complete change I didn’t realise until recently how much I would really get into this side of the Fitness industry.

Having worked with top level professional athletes, executives, as well as young children, being a mum of two young energetic kids my clinical experience stretches from all ages, body types and lifestyles.
