Our first nutrition coaching group is now halfway through the twelve week course.  We have had three 45 minutes sessions, with weekly contact in-between.  The results have been great, with weight and waist measurements dropping for all in the group.

We have covered the following so far:

  • Portion sizes (including getting the correct ratio of fats, protein and carbs). It is one of the most common mistakes that many of my clients make – and getting this right, can make a huge difference to achieving those health goals.
  • What your plate should look like – the different types of fats, protein, carbs, and what are the best sources of these foods. We also look at timing of eating here, which can make an impact on achieving those goals.
  • Shopping guidelines – to help getting it right at the supermarket – and making sure there is the right kind of food in the fridge and pantry.
  • Guide to Fats and Oils – important to get this right, to ensure that we can get the most health benefits out of this wonderful macronutrient.
  • Preparation Hints –  very important in helping with eating well and sticking to a healthy nutrition plan.
  • Weekly recipes – that are very tasty (most important) and nutritionally balanced.

At each fortnightly consultation, we start with a weigh in and a waist measurement.   We know that weight is sometimes not the best indicator, so at the 1st and last session – we also do a Bio Impendence Analysis ( BIA) – which lets us know how the fat and muscle have changed.

We then go through the food diaries, and indentify any areas that need improvement, and ideas to make these improvements.  It is very supportive and so far we have had lots of good changes, with lots of positive input from everyone in the group.

There is a closed face book group – that allows the group to share challenges, provide support and any tips that can help with reaching those goals.

At the 6 week mark, I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed working with this group, and have shared many laughs along the way.  I am looking forward to seeing what they can achieve in the next 6 weeks.
